How can we use a digital marketing campaign to encourage people to visit and take a closer look at the artwork?
Canaletto’s paintings of Venice are rich with beautifully captured and detailed pockets of interaction and activity. Stories that document everyday life in Venice.
Our concept ‘Canaletto’s Venice Today’ focused on these different scenarios in a way that asks the viewer to study the paintings with their imaginations. Who are these people? What might they be doing, thinking or saying?
We encouraged this thinking by juxtaposing the original paintings with illustrative additions that reflected current day themes that are relevant to Venice; such as love, food and drink, travel and climate. These themes allowed the animations to be topical whilst adding a narrative that creates fun, playful and unexpected scenes for the viewer to engage with.

The campaign followed several themes and could be thoughtfully enjoyed by all ages.”
